Multisensory rooms
In a multisensory room (Snoezelen), the operator determines which stimuli to present to the individuals in the room at any given moment. To facilitate this, specially designed equipment with remote controls is utilized, including LED lights, water columns, water beds, sound or vibration systems, projectors, scent diffusers, as well as soft furnishings and protective padding.

Stimulus and memory
In our day-by-day, we often use the phrase ‘they return to childhood’ when speaking about the elderly and their memories. However, recent advanced studies on Alzheimer’s and age-related conditions have challenged this notion. It is not childhood memories that return, but rather those that remain, as they are imbued with emotion and contexts that we also ‘physically’ store in a different area of the brain.
These components can also be present in the current moment: creating or recreating situations with strong emotional appeal allows memories to be connected to recent experiences, such as a conversation from yesterday. Furthermore, this underscores the importance of a pleasant environment in fostering experiences and memories during children’s developmental years.
